Frequently Asked Questions
I already know how to drive, do I have to start with the basics like a beginner would?
Yes, over the years we have found that even though you might know how to drive, and therefore are not a "beginner" you might have skipped, or not even known, some of the basics. Since we offer private lessons, we are in a unique position to be able to tailor the lessons to you. Once you demonstrate the ability to do a particular maneuver, we will move on to the next, thus wasting no time on maneuvers you are already proficient at.
Do I need a learners permit?
You do not need a learner's permit to take the classroom lecture; however, you do need a learners permit to take the behind the wheel instruction.
How often are the lessons scheduled?
Lessons are scheduled as often as you like, usually 2- hours at a time once a week. If you are a beginning driver you might need some practice time between your lessons and may skip a week.
I'm doing this for insurance, does your course qualify for the insurance discounts?
Yes, our teenage new driver course will qualify for your insurance needs; however, insurance companies differ in what they require. It is a good idea to check with your insurance company and specifically ask them if you need both the classroom lecture and the behind the wheel instruction. Our experience over the years has been that some require both, where others just require one or the other.
When do I pay?
You pay for the classroom with your application.
We prefer that the 6 hour behind the wheel course be paid for on the first lesson; however, you may pay for each lesson as it is taken.
For the Semi-Private Course - A deposit is sent in with the classroom application, leaving the remainder to be paid when the behind the wheel instruction is taken.
What happens if it takes me more time to learn?
You can take as many lessons as you wish. You are not obligated to take any certain number of lessons. If you require more than the six, then you pay for each additional lesson as it is taken.
